This Annual Event was held at Franklin Road, Gillingham on Saturday 11th April 2015 and followed the Provincial Committee Meeting, when some 100 Mark Masons were present and enjoyed lunch in each other’s company.

In the post luncheon proceedings those members who had passed to higher service during the past year were respectfully remembered.

In the absence of the Mess Secretary W. Bro. Chris Boak, gave the Secretary’s report and said that membership numbers were very marginally down on the previous year but would, no doubt, improve to extent with new memberships when the list of new Provincial appointments are issued.

The Mess Accounts were presented by the Treasurer, W Bro. Bill Taylor and were duly proposed, seconded and adopted.

The President of the Mess, RW Bro. Archibald Torrance, explained that last year a presentation should have been made to VW Bro. Peter Ward who had been Mess Treasurer for over 30 years. The gift had not been available but the presentation of the Scottish Quaife or drinking cup had now been made. VW Bro. Peter very proudly displayed the cup and again invited the President to share the contents with him.

It was agreed that a donation of £1000 from Mess Funds be made to the 2020 Festival.

It was proposed that W. Bro. Bill Taylor should continue as Treasurer and this was seconded and duly carried.

It was proposed that W. Bro. Malcolm Burkett should also continue as Mess Secretary. This was seconded and duly passed.

The Acting Vice President of the Mess, W Bro. Fred Brown, proposed the Toast to the President of the Mess, RW Bro. Archibald Torrance, who responded accordingly.

The names of those Brethren who are being honoured with Promotion or Appointment in Grand Rank in June and who were present today were read out and congratulated.

The President said he now had the pleasant task of making two presentations of the Silver Pin of Excellence and that one of the recipients had now achieved the “double”. First up was W. Bro. Rod Maytum of Granville Lodge No. 390 who achieved the award in the Royal Ark Mariner degree. The Provincial Grand Secretary read the Citation. The President then made the presentation to W. Bro. Maytum congratulating him on the ceremony performed. W. Bro. David King of the Gordon Lodge No. 364 had won the Silver Pin for the Royal Ark Mariner ceremony last year and had since performed a Ceremony of Excellence in the Mark degree. The Provincial Grand Secretary read the Citation after which the President made the presentation to W. Bro. King and congratulated him on this rare distinction. Both awards were warmly applauded by those present.

The President then congratulated W. Bro. Reg Warren of Royal Oak Lodge No. 416 who was celebrating his 87th. The assembled Brethren echoed this with a rendition of “Happy Birthday” A happy and successful occasion was brought to a conclusion when the Provincial Grand Junior Warden, W. Bro. Paul Murton, proposed a vote of thanks to the President.
