The Regular Meeting of the Dover and Cinque Ports Lodge No 152 held on the 10th June was an historic event for the Lodge and Mark Masonry.

The Lodge preformed a double Advancement led by the Worshipful Master Bro. Lew Finnis and in the presence of VW Bro. A. Eadie PAGM who was representing the RW the Provincial Grand Master. The senior candidate on the night was Bro. Colin Hirst, 34, a Past Master of the Military Jubilee Lodge No2195, and their Asst. Secretary. He has just also completed his year as 1st Principal of the Military Jubilee Chapter No 2195. Bro. Colin has a young family and works for the NHS as an IT Team Leader. He is a great ritualist and will be a great asset to 152.

The junior Candidate was Bro. Jamie Barnes, 20, a Master Mason of the St. Augustine’s Lodge No 972. Bro. Jamie was Initiated into 972 under the University scheme. He attends the Kent University taking a Diploma in Business Management. He is the youngest Mason to be Advanced into this Lodge and probably Mark Masonry. In his spare time he runs his own small gardening services company. His Grandfather W Bro. H. M. Barnes is a Past Master of 152 and 199 .

Jamie is very keen to learn and attends his own LOI’s and the Lodge of Peace and Harmony No 199 LOI’s on a regular basis taking offices at both Lodges regular meetings.

The evening was a great success, a double Advancement not being easy at the best of times, but the Officers led by the Worshipful Master performed a ceremony worthy of note, the candidates thoroughly enjoying themselves, they have both expressed a desire to join the Roy Ark Mariners .
