Kent Installed Commanders Lodge No. 999 Installation Meeting

Friday 7th March 2014 was the day when a number of members of the Lodge together with their guests assembled at the Masonic Hall, Sheerness to witness the Installation of W. Bro. Geoffrey Whale, RAMGR, as the 23rd Commander of the Lodge.

The Lodge was opened with several items of business being disposed of including the presentation of the statement of accounts, the election of new members and most importantly the passing of a proposal that allowed £4,000 be donated to the Kent Mark Benevolent Fund to support the 2020 Festival. This donation was duly presented to the Provincial Grand Master who quickly passed it onto the Provincial Grand Charity Steward.

The Installing Commander, W. Bro. John Dalley, then proceeded to install W. Bro. Whale into the Chair of the Lodge and this was done in a delightful manner. W. Bro. Whale appointed and invested his Officers with appropriate words of congratulation to each.

A donation for charitable purposes on behalf of the members was made to W. Bro. Dalley to mark the completion of his year as Commander.

It was now time for the new Commander’s inaugural address. This concerned some points about the degree and focused for a time on the number of steps that are taken and why there was one less attribute than there were steps.

Alms were collected, the concluding business conducted and finally the Lodge was closed for the Brethren to retire to the dining hall for refreshment and complete a very enjoyable evening.
