The Kent Mark Festival of Ancient Mark Ritual was held at the Masonic Hall, Franklin Road, Gillingham on Friday 6th July under the Banner of St. George’s Mark Lodge No.1061.

More than 160 Mark Masons not only from Kent but also other Provinces were treated to a wonderfully colourful, entertaining and educational performance of the 18th century ceremonies of the Acknowledgment of a Mark Mason and the Advancement of a Mark Master by the Sussex Mark Ancient Re-enactment Team (SMART). Our sincere thanks go to the SMART team for giving its time and effort to help make the evening a great success.

The Provincial Grand Master presented a cheque for £500 to the Provincial Grand Master of Sussex in support of the Sussex Province 2019 Festival which was accepted with grateful thanks.

This Festival of Ritual is the only Kent Mark Benevolent Fund’s fund raising event in 2012 and the Provincial Grand Master announced the formal launch of the 2020 Festival (click here to learn more). The new Gift Aid Envelopes were widely used by those present in the donation of Alms which will also be credited to the 2020 Festival.

The Charity Steward of St. George’s Mark Lodge presented a cheque for £500, on behalf of the Worshipful Master and members of the Lodge, to the Provincial Grand Master which was received with much pleasure and the comment that the 2020 Festival is well and truly launched and is off to a good start.

The evening was rounded off by a very nice dinner in a very convivial and happy atmosphere.

W. Bro. David Reeves
Secretary of St. George’s Mark Lodge
