Saturday 17th December 2011 marked a special day in the history of North Kent Royal Ark Mariner Lodge No 1682 for it was then that the PGM, RW Bro. Roger Croucher, together with a strong Provincial team assembled at Wilmington to dedicate the new Lodge Banner.

This followed a lot of hard work by W. Bro. John Smith, the Lodge Charity Steward, and members of the Lodge to raise funds to purchase the Banner. VW Bro. Peter Wise also made a large input in to the design of and having the Banner produced.

The purpose of the meeting was explained by the Provincial Grand Master. The veiled Banner was then proudly paraded in to the Lodge by the Banner Bearer, W. Bro. John Smith, to the strains of the hymn “O God our help in ages past”. An excellent and inspirational Oration was delivered by the ProvGChap, W. Bro. John Sylvester, after which he was sincerely thanked by the PGM.

The Banner Bearer then paraded the Banner around the Lodge for all to see and admire. The Prayer of Dedication followed after which the Banner was Dedicated and presented by the PGM to the Worshipful Commander, W. Bro. John Munton, who gratefully received it on behalf of the Lodge.

The Provincial Grand Chaplain offered the Patriarchal Benediction and thus concluded a very happy and successful Ceremony.
